On 7 May 2026, a major fire broke out in a data center in Almere, the Netherlands. The fire started at the back of the building in the technical space housing the emergency power supply.
The incident quickly escalated into a large-scale fire. It was a full-scale operation classified as GRIP 2, a Dutch emergency coordination level indicating regional impact. That meant that fire departments from Almere, Urk, Hilversum, Huizen, and Amsterdam, as well as three crash tenders from Schiphol and Lelystad Airport, were active on site.

Due to the lack of water supply, the HydroSub 250s were deployed to ensure a continuous water supply. After several hours of firefighting, the fire was officially declared under control.
The water supply ran for a few kilometers, demonstrating the value of the Hytrans units when the local water infrastructure and standard supply lines reached their limits. The Hytrans units supplied the fire engines and a crash tender with a stable, high-volume flow for hours at a time to fight the fire. Hytrans supported the emergency services in maintaining control, even in this complex and resource-intensive situation.
